My recommendations for feminist podcasts & series

In recent years, feminist podcasts and series have had a strong impact on my journey as a woman. Because I finally see and hear that it's not just me who feels the way I do. I have finally understood what the phrase means: the private is political.

Podcasts have changed my life. They educate me. They show me female role models. They make me question my previous ideas of how women should be. I was finally able to build my own understanding of feminism. Especially in my first year as a mom, I listened to interesting podcasts during breastfeeding times and stroller walks. These are my top 5 feminist podcasts:

  1. Great Daughters - Beatrice Frasl talks with with different women professionals about feminist issues. Very instructive and super understandable!
  2. The power center - Verena Steinhäuser interviews women leaders about power - Super inspiring!
  3. Women's questions - Mari Lang asks men typical women's questions - Funny and shocking at the same time!

  4. Jeanne's World - Jeanne Drach has intimate inspiring conversations with diverse women - Honest and empowering!

  5. The Boss - Simone Menne interviews female bosses about power, mistakes, money and family - Interesting and motivating!

Feminist Series - My Recommendations

After being socially influenced during my youth mainly by movies and series in which women only want to be pretty, thin and sexy to get a man, I now finally enjoy series that are about female realities: about career decisions, about conflicts with girlfriends, about digestive problems, about physical and psychological ups and downs and about mutual support and empowerment among women. These are my current top 5 feminist series, a bit like Sex and the City but much more honest and empowering:

  1. The girls from the back row - 5 girlfriends shave their heads and go on a journey full of tests of courage - Funny, honest and so beautiful to watch!
  2. The Bold Type - 3 friends support each other with their plaids - An inspiration how the world could look like if we women stick together!
  3. Valeria - A writer with ups and downs in private and professional life and her friends - Emotional, funny and beautiful colorful apartments!
  4. 4 more Shots - 4 girlfriends go through thick and thin together with work life, ambitions, fears and romance in today's India - Lots of drama and interesting insights into Indian culture!
  5. Harlem - 4 African American girlfriends pursue their professional dreams in New York - Exciting insights into different professions!

Feminist art

Not only feminist podcasts and series inspire me to be the woman I want to be - but also art. I have artworks of different artists hanging at home, which inspire and remind me daily to accept myself as a woman the way I am. I also want to inspire and empower women with my own feminist artwork, my emotional faces. Feel free to check out my paintings in my online storethe SCHUBERT GALLERY.
