How did the SCHUBERT GALLERY come about?

Carina, 32, is a typically versatile jack-of-all-trades who has already tried out a lot in her life. What runs like a thread through her life is painting. At the age of 19, she already organized her first exhibition and sold her first paintings. She used her pregnancy to set up her own art gallery in Vienna's 23rd district with an online store. "In my family it has always been said, learn something "Gscheites", from the art you can not live," explains Carina. "That's why I tried different apprenticeships and jobs, but nowhere did I stay long. Now all these experiences help me to build and market my own art gallery with my art."

"I OFTEN FELT BAD BECAUSE I NEVER STAYED ANYWHERE - NOW I KNOW I LOVE EDUCATION AND NEW EXPERIENCES!"

After graduating from high school in the 3rd district at Kundmanngasse, Carina studied architecture at the TU for 1 year, which quickly became too technical for her. After that, she continued with a bachelor's degree in communications at the University of Applied Sciences Vienna and a semester abroad in Hawai'i. Thanks to a Fulbright scholarship she was able to teach German as a Teaching Assistant in Florida for 1 year and study Studio Art at the same time. She continued her studies back in Vienna with a Master's degree in Business Management-Executive Management at the University of Applied Sciences Vienna, one semester of Art Therapy at the Sigmund Freud University, one semester of Elementary School Teaching at the University of Teacher Education Vienna, a training as a dance and movement teacher and a coaching training. Besides all these trainings Carina worked in various Viennese marketing departments, agencies and in the family business SCHUBERT STONE. Most recently, Carina worked as a career changer in a municipal kindergarten in the 10th district through the Teach for Austria program, which advocates for educational equity. She is currently completing her training as an elementary teacher at Bafep 8 in Albertgasse.

"I often felt bad because I wasn't like the others around me who had followed a straight path and pursued a career," Carina says. "I felt for a long time that there was something wrong with me and that I didn't fit in anywhere. I was often accused by those around me of not having staying power. I was very preoccupied with this, I dealt with myself a lot, read a lot, came across the term "scanner". I realized that on the one hand there are people who like to do the same thing or stay in one area of interest, are experts there and go into depth. On the other hand, there are people who like to explore different areas of interest in a more generalist way, i.e. they are broadly positioned. And both are okay! In recent years, I have met more and more people who are also like me, who also hop from training to training and have also already tried out different things and that feels so good! I used to see my diverse interest as a weakness, now I see it as a strength and a wealth."

"PREGNANCY HAS GIVEN ME THE TIME AND STRENGTH TO DO WHAT I ALWAYS WANTED TO DO".

"Pregnancy has caused me stress: What job will I return to after pregnancy? Where am I now professionally as an expectant mother? Have I really done professionally what I always wanted? And that's when a lot of ideas came to me! What if I set up my own art gallery with my art within the family business, which also has to do with building & living? Now I have the time and energy to try that out! And that's what I did and was very inspired! It all kind of suddenly made sense!"
